Cornell Summer Research and Leadership Program
Background: I was born and raised in Tuebingen near Stuttgart, in Southern Germany, as the eldest of two children. I attended the local grammar school from 1991 till 1997. Afterwards I went to College Preparatory Comprehensive School from 1997 till 2004, when I made my university entrance qualification. From the very beginning I've been interested in science. During my gap year I did some internships and travelled to New Zealand. I moved to Hannover to start my studies in Veterinary Medicine in October 2005. In 2007 I have made the Physikum, which probably can be regarded as a bachelor equivalent. I will continue my studies for the next two years in order to reach the master's degree.
Interests: Whenever I've got the time I love reading books, especially about forensic medicine. Moreover I really enjoy cooking for my friends and spending time with them and my family. Since beginning my veterinary studies, I've had to cut back on my other hobbies like horse riding, swimming, dancing, watching movies and of course travelling, but whenever time allows I still indulge in them.
Career Goal: I am fascinated by the epidemiology of emerging and zoonotic diseases at international level. Because of that I'm planning to do a residency in virology or bacteriology and to deal with infectious diseases.
