University of Calgary
I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada, and I currently reside in Calgary. Prior to enrolling in the DVM program I studied chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular neuroscience with a focus on calcium channels. I have also worked with a pharmaceutical company testing novel compounds to block ion channels involved in pain transmission. I enrolled in the new DVM program at the University of Calgary in 2008 and am proud to be included in the first class proceeding through the program.
When I am not busy with studies, and if the wind is cooperating, you will probably find me paragliding in the foothills of Alberta or the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia. I also enjoy traction kiting, SCUBA diving, ice climbing, hiking, and racing around the local track on my motor bike.
I have a strong interest in research, especially in the area of neuroscience. I would like to pursue studies in pathology and etiology of prion diseases, either returning to a pharmaceutical company setting or staying in academia.
