University of Copenhagen
I’m a Danish girl, having been born and raised on Fyn, Denmark, and am currently attending the University of Copenhagen, the Faculty of Life Science, in its College of Veterinary Medicine. I grew up in the country with a brother and a sister, where I participated in horse-riding events, such as championships in dressage as a pony-rider and junior. Having first enrolled as a horse-riding career, I soon realized horse-riding in itself was not my future. “I just couldn't stay out of the chemistry, physics and mathematics and biology classes.” My lifelong interest in horses steered me toward equine medicine instead of human medicine. I will go on to earn my DVM at Copenhagen University.
Apart from “hitting the books” in vet school, I enjoy being active, run, walk, bicycling, swimming etc. I like almost all sports. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to do the same in Ithaca this summer. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with my friends and family and meeting new people.
Although currently I have not decided my ultimate career goal, the areas of orthopedics; tendon, ligament and joint injuries, stem cell therapy as well as stem cell biology and platelet rich plasma therapy have considerably piqued my interest. After receiving my DVM degree, I will most likely pursue a PhD-degree, continuing my research on equine orthopedics. My long-term career goal is finding a job that combines research and some clinical work.
