Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine
I was born in 1986 and grew up in the suburbs of central New Jersey. I did my undergraduate work at Rutgers University and graduated in 2008 with a major in Animal Sciences and a minor in Psychology. Currently, I am in my 2nd year at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine. I am of Indian descent; my parents migrated from Mumbai, India, to the U.S.A. in 1984.
I love playing basketball and regularly organize pickup games with my classmates during the school year. I watch "I Love Lucy" and "Seinfeld" on a daily basis. I am a big Beatles fan and enjoy listening to classic rock and R&B. I also like to play party games with friends. I have a 1-year-old feline friend named Boka (which means "male cat" in my mother tongue, Marathi).
Though the majority of my veterinary experience is in small animal medicine, I am considering laboratory animal medicine for my career. At this point, my ideal situation 10 years from now would be to work full-time as a lab animal vet in academia or industry but to also do relief work in small animal practice. While in school, however, I am open to pursuing other fields within the veterinary discipline that grab my interest.
