I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and have had the privilege of growing up surrounded by various animals and strongly influenced by my mother, a veterinary graduate. I was first exposed to research the summer before I began veterinary school. I had the privilege of working in a basic research laboratory with a focus on cancer, at a veterinary clinical oncology centre. I gained valuable laboratory experience and started to think about how knowledge acquired through research could be transitioned to clinical practice. I realized that I wanted contribute to the growth of medical knowledge and its application. Currently, I am a second year DVM student and a member of UCVM’s inaugural class.
I find any excuse (skiing, hiking, camping, trail riding) to escape into the mountains and spend time outdoors. I also greatly enjoy playing soccer, running, and singing. I love new experiences and challenges and take any opportunity to be exposed to the different cultures and landscapes of this world.
After receiving a DVM degree, I would like to complete an internship and residency in order to gain clinical experience and expertise. With this background I hope to be able to identify and participate in necessary and applicable research projects while pursuing further training. Ultimately, I would like to work as a researcher, teacher, and clinician in an academic setting.
