I was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in Germany and grew up in a small village nearby. After finishing school I moved to Heidelberg where I studied chemistry. For my PhD in chemistry at the German Cancer Research Center, I developed a highly sensitive testing procedure for biopolymers on microarrays in order to detect counterfeits. After graduating I decided to study veterinary medicine and was chosen from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover.
In my spare time I enjoy doing all kinds of water sports, especially rowing. For me rowing and being outside is very relaxing and inspiring. I love cooking meals from all over the world for my friends: the more people the better. When time allows I enjoy reading books about history of art and I´m fond of travelling as well as studying languages.
I have been fascinated by the workings of biological systems and biochemical processes since my schooldays. With my veterinary medicine studies complete, I wish to earn an experimental PhD while making use of my experience in chemistry. Afterwards I want to proceed with combining chemistry and veterinary science during a post doc position abroad and subsequently in my further academic career.
