Background: I grew up in Darien, IL a southwest suburb of Chicago. My love for animals has been with me as a little girl and my passion for science was cultivated at the University of Chicago where I earned my B.A. in 1999. My interest in basic science research and animal models of human disease experience led me to my experience in an immunology laboratory under the direction of Dr. Averil Ma, to whom I greatly attribute my motivation to not only maintain an active involvement in research but also to pursue and utilize my veterinary education towards the development of good animal models of disease. Interests: I enjoy outdoor activities, puzzles, people watching, walking, and a good conversation things that tend to be few and far between while immersed in the veterinary curriculum. I love listening to and playing music when I have the chance and spending time with and making new friends. I like most things that involve interaction. Career Goal: I currently plan to maintain an active involvement in basic science research and foresee an active involvement in the study and development of animal models of disease. Since I am just beginning to explore the variety of career opportunities, my immediate goal is to gain an extensive experience in the field of basic science research through my participation in the Leadership Program and for the most part, to try and keep my options open. |
