Background: A native Upstate New Yorker, I escaped to Boston for college but was drawn back to the Fingerlakes region for graduate study. As a student enrolled in the Dual Degree (DVM/PhD) program at Cornell my research training is in the epidemiology of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) transmission. I have completed two years of the seven year program in the field of Comparative Biomedical Sciences with minors in Population Medicine/Epidemiology and Immunology. The specific foci of my research lie on mathematical modeling and the influence of heterogeneity in infectious populations evaluated via an immunologic approach. Interests: My interests outside of research include activities of both the domestic and outdoor variety. Recent free time has been spent reading, traveling and entertaining. Career Goal: I intend to continue research on pathogen transmission in the future. I believe working at the interface of epidemiologic modeling and immunology offers an opportunity to better understanding the complexities of transmission dynamics while incorporating both theory and information from a controlled research setting. |
