Background: I am 22 and I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska (go Huskers!). I have spent the last four years at Iowa State University attempting to complete my degree in biology and recently finished my first year at the College of Veterinary Medicine. I am the oldest of three with two younger sisters. For the past two years I worked on West Nile virus research, mosquito population surveys, and Lyme's Disease in a Medical Entomolgy Lab. Interests: In my free time I enjoy being outdoors. I especially like to swim and hang out at the pool (I was a diver in high school). In the professional aspect I really enjoy science and problem solving. I love good mystery novels and I am a math junky! I would say I liked to ski, until I tore my ACL last fall...now I just hobble around. Career Goal: I would like to be a zoonotic disease researcher. I am especially interested in those vectored by insects. I would eventually like to be a professor--helping, teaching, and inspiring others to do amazing things for our planet. |
