Cornell Summer Research and Leadership Program
Shuei Ito
University of Tokyo
Background: I was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. I entered the University of Tokyo in 2004. After two years in the College of Arts and Sciences, I declared my major in Veterinary Medical Sciences. In my fourth year, I found that epigenetics was a very interesting field of study. Currently, I am studying tissue/cell-specific DNA methylation patterns as a final-year student of veterinary medical sciences in the Laboratory of Cellular Biochemistry..
Interests: I love to go out for walks, watch movies, and listen to music. My favorite activity is cooking, eating and drinking with my family and friends. I make not only Japanese traditional dishes but also foreign cuisines (adapted to the Japanese palate).
Career Goal: I am interested in the field of regenerative medicine for animal and human diseases. I don’t have specific plans for the future but I would like to continue learning and doing research in order to contribute to new therapeutic approaches. I am sure that I will grow in self-confidence and make many new friends in the Leadership Program and that I will treasure my experiences with them throughout my working years.
