Cornell Summer Research and Leadership Program
Greta Schmoyer
University of Tennessee
Background – I grew up near Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Earth and Ocean Sciences. I have since returned to Knoxville, where I now attend the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. I am also nearing completion of my Master’s of Public Health with a concentration in Veterinary Public Health.
Interests – When not in school, I am likely to be found outdoors. I enjoy trail running, rock climbing, cycling (both mountain and road), hiking, etc. The vet school schedule has afforded my friends and me the chance to take a three-week climbing road trip out West each December.
Career Goals – I am interested in zoonotic diseases and hope to use the knowledge from my veterinary and public health studies to better understand the intersection of human and animal health and the environment. My specific interests include the impact of environmental changes on wildlife diseases and the epidemiology of zoonotic diseases in domestic animal populations. |
