Research Interests

As one of the three veterinary clinical pathologists in the Department of Pathology, activities in diagnostic service, the DVM curriculum, and resident training are the main among the main components of my position.

The clinical pathology laboratory, which I co-direct with Drs. Blue and Stokol, is a section of the New York State Diagnostic Laboratory. This laboratory provides an extensive menu of tests in hematology, cytology, clinical biochemistry, and immunology testing for Cornell's Teaching Hospital, private practitioners in the Northeast and around the country, and, increasingly, for researchers within the college and in industry. The lab is working towards attaining GLP compliance, in order to optimally position ourselves for expanding our current base of contract work.

In the veterinary curriculum, I am a charter member of the design group for Foundation Course III (Function and Dysfunction), in which the discipline of clinical pathology is an emphasis. I also serve as a tutor, lecturer, and resource faculty in this course. A primary interest of mine is the development and utilization of HTML-based computer modules as a learning tool for DVM students. In this regard, I have, working with Drs. Blue and Stokol, authored a number of web-based resource modules in the area of clinical pathology. We also have established a new distribution course in clinical pathology, which also is supported by online case materials.
