Description (provided by applicant): This project addresses the lack of standardization of veterinary thromboelastography and aims to improve our collective ability to assess the coagulation status of companion animals. Veterinary patients with bleeding diatheses and thromboembolic disorders are frequently encountered in emergency and critical care practice. Thromboelastography is increasingly used to assess these animals, but a lack of standardization of the assays employed limits comparison of results between centers. Assay standardization and evaluation of assay performance within and between centers is essential to maximize the utility of information provided by this technology.
