Pre-Veterinary Newsletter June 2006
Application Process and Changes
The VMCAS application is now available online at https://secure.vmcas.org/. The Cornell Supplemental application will be available online in mid June at www.vet.cornell.edu/admissions. There are a couple of changes in the application process you will want to note:
Official Transcripts
This year, all official transcripts must be mailed directly from the registrar at your college(s) to the Admissions
Office at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Transcripts should not be sent in the envelope with your Cornell Supplemental application.
If you are applying this year, we encourage you to have your registrar(s) forward your transcripts to our office now. It is not necessary to wait until you begin your application or send it in.
AP Scores
As always, if you took AP chemistry or physics you would need to have scored a 4
or 5 to receive credit. You will also need to have official AP scores sent from the College Board to the
Admissions Office at the College of Veterinary Medicine showing you have received the appropriate score. If you have not received a 4 or 5, and your
undergraduate college has awarded you credit for General (Inorganic) Chemistry,
you will need to complete an additional 6 credits of upper level chemistry to
meet the minimum credit requirement. These upper level credits cannot include Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry I or II. The same is true for Physics.
Tracking Page
When you begin you Cornell Supplemental Application you will also begin a 'Tracking
Page'. It is very important to monitor your tracking page to make sure your application and all the supporting
information is sent in by the deadline. If your application is incomplete, we will not be able to review it for
admission. By checking your 'Tracking Page' regularly you will be able to follow up with those sending in information
and make sure those materials arrive in a timely manner.
