--All mails (evaluations, transcripts, fees, and paper applications)
should be sent to: VMCAS, 1101 Vermont Ave., NW, #411, Washington,
DC 20005. The documents must be postmarked by the deadline.
--Application Status Check. After submitting the web application,
a confirmation page will appear. To receive a status update for
mails that were sent to VMCAS, send an email to vmcas@aavmc.org,
and place Application Status Check in the subject line. Please
include your applicant ID number, and contact information.
--Always include your applicant ID number and contact information
with all communications that are sent to VMCAS.
--Signature Page/Application Copy. These documents are not needed
if you are submitting a web application.
--VMCAS fees must be paid by check or money order. Record the
applicant ID number on your payment. Refunds will not be provided
for applicants who decide to reduce the number of selected schools.
If an insufficient fee was submitted, send the balance with a
recommendation.
--If your letter of recommendation is missing a signature on the
seal, forward it to VMCAS. It will not cause a problem. Colleges
can forward evaluations and transcripts directly to VMCAS.
--Do not refrain from mailing your application, if some of the
support documents (transcripts, evaluations, etc) are missing.
--GRE scores must be sent directly to the schools.
21 Veterinary Schools Require a Supplemental
Application
Are you applying to veterinary schools this
year? Like most medical schools, most veterinary schools require
supplemental applications from some or all of their applicants.
Most schools will send their forms after pre-selecting applicants
from their VMCAS pool. Cornell prefers that all applicants complete
an on-line supplemental before October 5. Below is a list of all
VMCAS participating schools and last year's information. Please
read VMCAS College Requirements at http://aavmc.org/vmadobe.htm

---- indicates no supplemental/no fee.
Dean of Students Letter Will Be
Required
Cornell DVM Admissions will require a Dean of Students
Letter later in this application cycle. It will be used
to screen for potential criminal, academic dishonesty or student
disciplinary actions. Since many registrars refuse to record student
disciplinary notations on the transcript, we find it prudent to
require this extra step.
Instructions to applicants on these new procedures
will be sent via email after December 1. If you are applying this
cycle and have questions, please wait until you receive the instructions
(or until December 10 if we fail to deliver the instructions to
your email account).
14 Tips on Letters of Evaluation
for VMCAS/Cornell Applicants
We receive many questions on letters, so here are some quick tips...
1 Your three best letters should go to VMCAS.
2 Any additional letters should arrive with your Cornell Supplemental.
3 VMCAS will not forward your file anywhere until they receive
3 letters.
4 Committee Letters may count as 3 if 3 VMCAS forms are attached.
5 Cornell requires one letter for each animal or veterinary experience.
6 Cornell requires one letter from an advisor or faculty mentor.
7 Indicate on Cornells Supplemental which letters will arrive
at VMCAS.
8 Letters should be enclosed with the VMCAS or Cornell application.
9 Enclosed letters should be sealed and envelope signed by evaluator.
10 VMCAS and Cornell allow letters to arrive separately from application.
11 Separately sent letters should be postmarked by the deadline.
12 October 4 is the new deadline.
13 Cornell destroys letters after we select students - for confidentiality.
14 Cornell greatly values all of your letters!
