Visiting Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist

The Section of Anatomic Pathology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University is offering a position in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology for up to 12 months. The position is extremely flexible and can be tailored to the interests of the successful candidate. Individuals who are either new diplomates of the ACVP with an interest in developing expertise in contemporary diagnostic pathology or a senior trainee who has completed a three year residency and needs time to prepare for the ACVP examination will be considered. The position can also accommodate current faculty wishing to take a sabbatical or senior faculty who are semi-retired but would like to continue to train and mentor residents on a reduced schedule. Title and salary will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.

New programs in molecular medicine, oncology, transgenic technologies, mammalian genomics, and infectious diseases offer unbounded opportunities for collaboration with faculty throughout the college and the university. Our unique alliance with nationally recognized faculty in both the biomedical and clinical sciences allows us to tap a wealth of expertise in molecular biology, genomics, and comparative medicine. Cornell is emerging as a leader in applying transgenic mice to basic research, and exciting opportunities exist to participate in evaluating the phenotypic changes encountered. These efforts are supported by an extensive array of seminar series featuring outstanding biomedical researchers with expertise across a wide variety of disciplines.

The successful applicant will provide necropsy and surgical pathology services to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals and the New York State Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory, working with residents in anatomic pathology. The distribution of effort devoted to service and other scholarly activities is negotiable depending on an applicant's interests and expertise.

Candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent and board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists or the European College of Veterinary Pathology.
