The Career Resource Center located in S2-009 Schurman Hall
contains an expanding library of professional and personal development
materials and tools in written, audio and electronic formats.
Current topics include resume, curriculum vitae and cover letter
writing, negotiation skills, personal career profile software,
as well as veterinary practice management and marketing texts.
Cornell Mentoring Partnerships
The Cornell Mentoring Partnership Program provides a variety
of venues for veterinarians and students to interact personally
and electronically.
Current Opportunity Database
The Veterinary Career Services job
posting system offers potential employers and employees an
on-line resource for sharing and gathering information on opportunities
available. Externships, Opportunity Blocks, Student Summer and
Academic Year Jobs and Permanent Positions are posted! Opportunities
represent the myriad of career choices available to veterinarians.
Mock
Interviews/Negotiations
Practice makes perfect. We are happy to schedule mock
interview and negotiation sessions with veterinarians to help
students prepare and be comfortable with their interview skills
and principled negotiations. These sessions may be videotaped
at the student's request.
Workshops
Learning by doing! Professional development workshops are
held throughout the year. Past topics have included Negotiation
Skills, panel discussions on Internships, Externships, and Practice
Ownership and roundtable discussions with Industry Leaders.
State and National Board Examinations
State Board (AAVSB - American
Association Of Veterinary State Boards) and National Board
(National Board of Veterinary
Medical Examiners) requirements are available in electronic
form and hard copy in the Career Resource Center. Licensing requirements
for employment in foreign countries are best investigated through
the staff in the Office of Student and Academic Services directly.
