Incinerator Operations
The College of Veterinary Medicine operates an incinerator for the disposal of Pathological Waste (definitions). Please note that conventional Regulated Medical Waste (i.e., syringes, Petri dishes, and related laboratory or clinical waste) is not incinerated here - see the Medical Waste Disposal page for more information.
Refer to the Medical Waste Disposal Guide for general guidance.
The Incinerator Facility is open to receive waste as follows:
Procedures for Pathological Waste Disposal
All pathological waste delivered to the Incinerator Facility must be submitted using the Medical Waste Tracking System (MWTS). We also provide instructions for delivery of waste to the Incinerator/Waste Management Facility.
Disposal Fees
No fees are charged for pathological wastes generated at the CVM for disposal by incineration in the CVM Incinerator. For pathological waste generated by other Cornell sources, no fees are charged for routine or incidental waste quantities, but fees outlined below will be charged for large quantities of waste from research projects. Disposal of pathological waste from non-Cornell sources will be charged at the rates outlined below:
Planned Changes Information on changes planned for the CVM Incinerator and Waste Management Facility is available. A computer rendering of the new facility is shown to the right. A larger view of this rendering is also available.
