Other Safety and Environmental Issues

Two Cornell University Departments have general responsibilities for Safety and Environmental issues at Cornell:

Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for all health & safety issues at Cornell. EH&S is also responsible for most "indoor" environmental issues (e.g., chemical and radioactive waste management, indoor air quality, and asbestos)

Environmental Compliance Office is responsible for all other environmental issues at Cornell

At the College of Veterinary Medicine, we have additional, local, resources that can help with identifying, addressing, and getting help with safety and environmental issues:

Department Safety Representatives ( DSR list [link to.pdf file in BS program page]) can act as a first-line source of information or referrals on safety issues.

The College Safety Committee [link to. SC page under BS program page], which is composed of DSRs from all the Departments and Units at the College as well as representatives of EH&S, the College Biosafety Program, and the College Facilities Office, acts as a clearinghouse of information on College- and University-wide safety issues.

The College Biosafety Engineer (Paul Jennette, 3-4227) can assist with biosafety issues as well as provide referrals for other safety issues.

The College Environmental Representative (Paul Jennette, 3-4227) can assist with general environmental issues as well as referrals for related issues.
