GOSSYPOL TOXICITY, COTTONSEED POISONING, IN DOGS
 
Description    Gossypol is a toxic agent in cottonseed. Dogs developed heart failure after ingestion of cottonseed meal or cottonseed bedding.

Signs   Abdominal distention, Abnormal lung or pleural sounds, Anorexia, Ascites, Coma, Dullness, Dyspnea, Generalized weakness, Increased respiratory rate, Pale, Polydipsia, Prolonged capillary refill time, Sinus arrhythmia, Sudden death, Tachycardia, Underweight, poor condition, thin, emaciated, unthriftiness, ill thrift, Ventricular enlargement, Weak pulse, Weight loss
