MASCAGNIA RIGIDA POISONING
 
Description    MASCAGNIA RIGIDA is a poisonous plant in the semiarid region of Brazil. Deaths of sheep, cattle and goats occur up to 48 hours after ingestion. The toxic compound is suspected to be fluoroacetate.
 
Species   Bovine, Caprine, Ovine
 
Signs   Arrhythmia, Ataxia, Constant or increased vocalization, Dysmetria, Dyspnea, Inability to stand, Increased respiratory rate, Opisthotonus, Reluctant to move, Seizures or syncope, Sudden death, Tachycardia
