Shari Hemsley is the senior cardiology technician at Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA). Her degrees include an AAS in the veterinary technician program at SUNY Delhi and a BS degree in Animal Science at Cornell University.
After working several years at a small animal practice in East Hampton, New York, she joined the team at CUHA. Since 1988 she has been a technician at CUHA, first in small animal Surgery, then in Ultrasound and Cardiology. Since 1995 she has focused her energies entirely on cardiology with extensive experience in arrhythmia analysis of 24-hour electrocardiograms (Holter analysis).
In 2008 she became a charter member of the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians (AIMVT) and is on the cardiology examination committee for the veterinary technician specialty (VTS). She is passionate about promoting the role of technicians as an integral part of the team, especially as it relates to improving patient care. She has contributed meaningfully to numerous publications and is currently authoring an ECG chapter in a clinical cardiology technician textbook.
