Ambulatory and Production Medicine

The Ambulatory and Production Medicine Clinic provides veterinary service on farms within 30 miles of Ithaca, New York. This includes care of individual cattle, horses, small ruminants, swine, and camelids as well as implementation of production medicine programs in local herds.

Dairy farming is the main livestock business in the area and therefore dairy cattle account for a large part of our caseload. During two required rotations, veterinary students receive four weeks of clinical instruction in primary care of large animals and production medicine, with the option to enroll for additional weeks to get more experience. Four faculty and three interns or residents provide clinical service and instruction and are involved in research, classroom teaching and continuing education programs.
