Equine dentistry is an important part of a comprehensive health program for your horse no matter what the age. Recognizing the regional need for providing high quality equine dentistry, Cornell is offering a new program. With support from our board-certified dental specialists, the internal medicine group at Cornell’s Equine Hospital is now offering routine oral examination and dental equilibration (“float”) for horses in a push to provide more preventative medicine.
Cornell’s experienced and specialized veterinarians use state-of-the-art equipment to examine tooth surfaces and regional structures to determine and deliver appropriate corrective actions before tooth overgrowth and dental pathology lead to oral pain, abnormal chewing, sores on the gums and cheeks, and infection. For $150, patients coming to Cornell specifically for this same-day service will receive a complete physical examination, sedated oral examination, and dental equilibration (“float”) as necessary. If patients are here for another reason and routine dentistry work is requested, patients will receive a sedated oral examination and dental equilibration for an additional $125. Nutritional consults are available for an additional fee.
