Dr. Judith A. Appleton appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Dean Michael Kotlikoff is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Judith A. Appleton as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine effective July 1, 2007. In this capacity, Professor Appleton will have the responsibility for overseeing academic appointments and promotions, developing policies and consensus surrounding academic titles, and promoting faculty diversity and development. Dr. Appleton, the Alfred H. Caspary Professor of Immunology in the Baker Institute for Animal Health, brings tremendous energy, experience, and fairness to this role. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Georgia and has been a member of the Cornell University faculty since 1987. Prior to her faculty appointment, Dr. Appleton was a Post-Doctoral Associate (1982-1983), Research Associate (1983-1985), and Senior Research Associate (1985-1987) at Cornell. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and her laboratory is at Baker Institute. Her research interests are microbiology, immunology, parasitology, and disease pathogenesis.
