Dr. Mark S. Roberson appointed Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences
Dean Michael Kotlikoff is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark S. Roberson as Chair, Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, effective August 1, 2007. Professor Roberson will oversee an interdisciplinary department consisting of approximately 65 faculty with expertise in anatomy, physiology, pathology and comparative vertebrate genomics. Faculty in this department have a prominent role in the Cornell Life Sciences Initiative in which life scientists across the Ithaca campus join the medical and veterinary research communities through major initiatives with Weill Cornell Medical College. Professor Roberson arrived at Cornell in 1995 and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences until he was promoted to Associate Professor with indefinite tenure in 2001, the position he now holds and in the department he will now serve as Chair. Dr. Roberson received his BS from the California Polytechnic State University (1981), MS from the Montana State University (1984), PhD from the University of Nebraska (1990), and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Oregon Health Sciences University and the University of Iowa (1990-1995). His research interests include molecular biology, biomedical sciences, reproduction, toxicology and physiology.
