Miss Austin O. Hooey (pronounced WHO-E) designated Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Engineering as recipients for major portions of her multimillion-dollar estate before she passed away. Her gift to the College of Veterinary Medicine represents the largest single bequest in our history and has enabled the Trustees to endow funding of the dean position in perpetuity, as well as adding substantial sums to the DVM/PhD program and DVM student scholarships. This gift belongs to the college, as it reflects our legacy of excellence over many years of service to animal and human health.

The activities listed below are planned in honor of Miss Hooey:

Monday, November 15
Dean Donald and Mrs. Doris Smith will host a luncheon for the emeriti and their spouses/partners in the Hagan Room from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday, November 16
Dean Smith will give the State of the College Address to the faculty, staff and students in James Law Auditorium from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Special guests will be in attendance.

Friday, November 19
There will be an ice cream social for faculty, staff and students in the Deans' Office from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Cornell University is hosting the Hooey Foremost Benefactor ceremony for Miss Hooey's friends and neighbors on Friday, November 19, at the College of Veterinary Medicine in the Atrium from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
