Sonja Bröer

Tieraerztliche Hochschule
Hannover, Germany
Class of 2009

Background: I was born and raised near Bremen, in Northern Germany where I attended the local grammar school from 1991 till 1997. Afterwards I went to College Preparatory Comprehensive School from 1997 till 2004, when I made my university entrance qualification. I moved to Hannover to start my studies in Veterinary Medicine in October 2004. In 2006 I have made the Physikum, which probably can be regarded as a bachelor equivalent. I will continue my studies for the next two years in order to reach the master's degree.

Interests: When I am at home or the weather is bad (which is the case quite often in Northern Germany), I play the piano and read a lot, especially detective literature. The rest of time I am mostly occupied with sports - dancing, riding, skiing, tennis, athletics and gymnastics. Since beginning my veterinary studies, however, I have had time only for my most important hobbies, which are riding and dancing.

Career Goal: During my studies I have discovered my steadily growing interest in research and I am really excited about the challenge of taking part in the Leadership Program and seek to improve my verbal skills as well as my laboratory experience. I hope that the program will help me to discover the direction my future career could go.
