Cornell Summer Research and Leadership Program
Background: I was raised in a rural landscape of Lower Saxony in close contact with companion, livestock and wildlife animals, and my passion to become a veterinarian arose very early. After finishing high school I was accepted by the Veterinary School in Berlin. Internships in different organizations have acquainted me with a variety of veterinary disciplines, and provided insight into career options other than clinical practice. For two years I worked at a pharmaceutical company where I gained knowledge about the practice of drug design. In my opinion, the diverse environment of pharmaceutical research is an extremely fascinating field and it is a deep desire of mine to take part in the creation of future technologies and innovations. Valuable experience was gained in a research project that examined the health status of cheetahs in Namibia. The collaboration with biologists in interdisciplinary teams confirmed my wish to pursue a research career. Interests: I enjoy traveling, wildlife, aviation, sports, film and theatre. Career Goal: When I complete my veterinary degree I am planning to register in a PhD program. My goal is to find a career in a reputable research laboratory focusing on genetics and molecular biology. |
