Kay Russo

Cornell University
Class of 2010

Background: I was born and raised as one of six children in Kalamazoo, Michigan. For undergrad, I attended Kalamazoo College where I majored in Health Sciences. I began researching at Pfizer Animal Health in Kalamazoo at the age of 16. During my undergraduate years, I continued to work for Pfizer researching parasites in sheep, lameness in dogs, and the major bacterial contributors to bovine respiratory disease. After being accepted by Cornell's College of veterinary medicine I moved to Ithaca and researched ways to alleviate stable fly burdens on local dairy farms for Cornell's veterinary entomology laboratory. Currently I am really enjoying my time as a veterinary student and am looking forward to the next three years of my training.

Interests: Cows, spending time outdoors hiking with my dog, staying active, and traveling (I studied abroad in Perth, Australia).

Career Goal: After completing my DVM, I will continue on to obtain a PhD. Currently, my interest lies in researching infectious disease and the application of this research to herd health.
