Statement of Purpose:
This is a detailed (one- to two-page) statement by the applicant,
indicating reasons for undertaking graduate work, as well as an
explanation of the applicant's study and research interests and
how they related to his/her undergraduate study and professional
goals (required by all Fields).
Transcripts:
Official transcripts from all previous colleges must be submitted,
detailing the courses taken, grades and/or degrees received and
G.P.A. (required by all Fields).
GRE scores:
Official GRE general test scores are required by all Fields. These
must be sent directly from ETS to the Cornell Graduate School
(university code 2098). Some Fields may suggest or require
the subject test; applicants should check the individual Field
pages for more information (General GRE test required by
all Fields).
TOEFL:
For students whose first language is not English, official TOEFL
scores are required; a student is expected to achieve a score
of at least 550 on the paper-based test, at least 213 on the computer-based test or minimum scores of Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 15, Speaking 22 on the internet-based test. These must be sent directly to the Cornell Graduate School (university code 2098) from ETS (required
by all Fields).
Letters of Recommendation:
Letter should come from persons with knowledge of the student's
abilities in academics and research. Letters should be accompanied
by the Recommendation Form which can be downloaded from the Internet.
The number of letters of recommendation required varies with each
Field; the applicant should check the Field site to assure that
the correct number are being requested. (The Fields of Pharmacology
and Molecular and Integrative Physiology require three letters of recommendation;
all others require two).
D.V.M. applicants :
Holders of a D.V.M. or equivalent degree, who are interested in
applying to the graduate program, should follow the admissions
instructions listed on the DVM Graduate Studies Program.
The application deadline
for the Fields of Comparative Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Pharmacology, and Molecular and Integrative Physiology is December 15 for admission in the fall semester of the following year;
for the Field of Zoology is February 1 for admission in the fall semester of the same year.
Paper copies of applications and all supporting materials for the Fields of Comparative
Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Pharmacology, Molecular and Integrative Physiology, and Zoology
may be sent directly to:

Interview/Recruitment Weekend
Domestic applicants being considered for Admission to the Fields of Comparative
Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, Pharmacology, and Molecular and Integrative Physiology
will be asked to attend an Interview/Recruitment Weekend the first weekend of March.
Letters of invitation will be sent in early February.
