Population Medicine & Diagnostic Sciences

The mission of the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences is to promote health, productivity, and welfare of food- and fiber- producing animals, companion animals and wildlife populations; ensure safety of foods of animal origin; and prevent animal disease with its associated risks to human health.

The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences is made up of three units, Ambulatory & Production Medicine, the Diagnostic Laboratory, and Epidemiology. Each has its own charter and focus.


dot  Ambulatory & Production Medicine

This section provides veterinary service on farms within 30 miles of Ithaca, NY.

dot  The Animal Health Diagnostic Center

This section focuses on improving the health of food- and fiber- producing, companion, sporting, zoo, and wildlife animals.

dot  Epidemiology

This section focuses on education of graduate and professional students, research regarding animal health and production, and consultation.
