Biosketch

John Hermanson, Associate Professor of Anatomy in the College of Veterinary Medicine, is Director of Graduate Studies in the Field of Zoology. He received a B.S. at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1975, an M.S. at Northern Arizona University in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Zoology at the University of Florida in 1983 where he studied with Dr. Charles Woods. He was a Research Fellow at Emory University (1983-1986) with Dr. Paul Lennard, and a Research Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he worked with Dr. Marcia Ontell. Dr. Hermanson came to Cornell in 1987 as a member of the Department of Anatomy. This department has been reorganized recently into the Department of Biomedical Sciences, including elements from the former Departments of Anatomy, Pathology, and Physiology. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Cells Tissues Organs (formerly Acta Anatomica), and is a member of the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology, American Society of Mammalogists, Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, and the American Association of Anatomists. Dr. Hermanson's research has been supported by the Zweig Foundation and NSF.
