This lecture will discuss the natural history, clinical presentation, and treatment considerations for dilated cardiomyopathy in the dog. Management of congestive heart failure, as well as arrhythmias will be covered. Lastly, this lecture will address how to properly sedate and anesthetize dogs with different stages of dilated cardiomyopathy to optimize cardiopulmonary function and minimize complications.
