Provide strategic leadership for Alumni Affairs & Development programs in support of the college's mission and priorities, including:

  • Alumni Affairs and Development programs that increase participation, involvement and financial support for the college.
  • College-wide fund raising programs, including individual giving, Annual Fund, corporate and foundation support and planned giving.
  • Alumni Affairs and Development efforts involving prominent programs such as the Cornell University Hospital for AnimalsBaker Institute, and Feline Health Center.
  • Alumni Association and College Advisory Council.
  • Alumni and Development events and programs including Reunion, alumni and affiliate receptions, homecoming, faculty speakers, as well as fundraising and donor recognition events.
  • Coordination with university AA&D functions including alumni and donor records, gift management, acknowledgments, endowment reporting and donor stewardship.
  • Primary liaison with university divisions of Alumni Affairs and Development, with reporting lines to the Dean of the College and the Director of College and Unit Alumni Affairs and Development.

  • Leads the development, execution and assessment of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for the College
  • Works collaboratively with the College’s hospital, specialty clinics and diagnostic center to increase their visibility and support revenue and caseload goals

Strategic Outreach and Pipeline Development:

  • In alignment with university initiatives, serve as the college diversity advocate to nurture cultural competency and an inclusive environment, partnering closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, CVM HR, department leadership, and faculty committees (CVM Belonging at Cornell Committee [BaCC], Committee on the Status of Faculty Women [CSFW], General Committee, CVM Staff Council, etc.) to enhance and improve targeted opportunities and processes for faculty recruitment, onboarding, integration, retention and promotion

Inclusive Climate and Community Engagement:

  • Serve as chair for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Affairs and an engaged member of Dean’s Council and College Executive Committee (CEC) meetings
  • Lead, manage and/or implement strategic diversity efforts that align with the college’s and university’s mission, strategic priorities, and to raise awareness for the entire college about multicultural and social justice issues
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of the CVM Belonging at Cornell Committee (BaCC) and their broad stakeholder activities on behalf of the college
  • Oversee the implementation and success of action plans to address the BaCC survey findings unique to the CVM community, in partnership with CVM HR and other department leaders in Academic Affairs, including developing or facilitating targeted educational and engagement opportunities, presenting updates at staff/faculty meetings and hosting seminar/speaker series, etc.
  • Work in partnership with staff, faculty and students across the organization to:
    • Develop and initiate college-wide best practices promoting cultural competencies that embrace diversity and inclusion as fundamental to institutional excellence
    • Educate CVM community about the importance of diversity to programmatic excellence
    • Provide consultation and guidance to senior leadership regarding diversity and inclusion in policy and program initiatives
    • Raise awareness for diversity and inclusion topics/issues (e.g., implicit bias, microaggressions, antiracism, etc.) to faculty, staff, and students through a broad range of activities, including the Many Voice, One College (MVOC) diversity series and other engagement forums
    • Oversee initiatives to promote the positive engagement, optimal learning and professional development for faculty and staff, in collaboration with the Department of Inclusion and Workforce Diversity, the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity (OFDD) and/or members of the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX
  • Serve as Chief Diversity Officer for CVM. Act as liaison and representative on university committees, and related programs, events and activities

Strategic Planning, Benchmarking & Data Analysis:

  • Together with CVM HR, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Dean for Students and Instruction, oversee the research and benchmarking efforts, including review and analysis of internal and external survey benchmarks
