Telemetry and Mouse Surgery Collaborations

  1. Consultation
This will include initial correspondence and meeting to determine what data/information the PI is looking to collect. It will be determined at this time whether the PI is looking to setup their own system or to work with us and use our system and expertise. This consultation will include Scott Butler, PI, and PI lab personnel involved with project. A preliminary budget will be determined.
  2. IACUC amendment
If collaboration is agreed upon, IACUC amendments will need to be implemented prior to any work commencing. The easiest and most appropriate way would be to have the telemetry surgical procedure, procedure rooms, and lab personnel added to new PI IACUC. I have consulted with IACUC staff and this is the process they recommend. I will develop a sheet that will detail what needs to be added to which section so that the PI can just copy and paste.
  3. Study
After IACUC amendment is started, study design will be discussed. This will include specific measurements and time points for data collection. A specific goal will be determined and who will be in charge of seeing it through. A study timeline will be developed and tasks assigned to personnel. This study plan will need to be approved by PI and Scott Butler.
  4. Reimbursement for core
Initial consultation will require no reimbursement. If collaboration is agreed upon by PI and BMS Core, reimbursement will be decided upon prior to study initiation. If during the course of the experiment, one of the telemeters becomes damaged (ie mouse chews it out), BMS Core will be responsible to replace that telemeter. Fees will include BMS Core personnel time, telemeter refurbishment, storage of data.
