Watch: Building a 3D library for anatomy education
Dr. Bill Ryerson, associate teaching professor of anatomy at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, has developed a digital library of 3D anatomical specimens using photogrammetry — a technique that transforms photographs taken from multiple angles into interactive 3D models. These models preserve anatomy dissections and rare specimens, allowing students to study and revisit materials long after physical specimens have changed or degraded. By combining hands-on learning with digital preservation, this project expands access to anatomy education and creates lasting learning resources for Cornell students and beyond.
