The Cornell University Equine Hospital offers state-of-the-art patient care for horses in a resourceful setting. Our board-certified specialists, dedicated and skilled residents, licensed veterinarian technicians, and supervised students work together to provide the best available emergency care, diagnostic procedures, treatment, and hospitalization for equine patients. We are open around-the-clock every day of the year for emergency and critical care cases, including neonatal intensive care and high-risk pregnancies. Routine and specialized health care services are readily available. Services are supported by up-to-date diagnostic procedures, including body ultrasound; endoscopy of the respiratory system, stomach and bladder; and high resolution radiography, CT scan and MRI techniques.
The Equine Hospital facilities were designed to accommodate horses and their specific needs, including large and well-ventilated stalls, safe and comfortable flooring and bedding, padded stalls for neurologic cases, a special perinatal ward for mares and foals, an equipped and air-conditioned intensive care unit, turn-out paddocks, and state-of-the art imaging and surgical facilities. In addition, an efficient biosecurity program has been in place to prevent hospital infections which includes a designated facility for hospitalization of patients with contagious diseases.
