Alumna named public health service junior veterinary officer of the year

Cmdr. Sally Ann Iverson  D.V.M.'11, deputy chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), has been named the public health service junior veterinary officer of the year by the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS). While working as a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service officer and completing a preventive medicine fellowship in Phoenix, she led zoonotic disease outbreak investigations and environmental health initiatives with state and county health departments.  Iverson is a diplomate of the ACVPM. She was recognized for her performance at the CDC and FSIS, spanning the fields of zoonotic diseases, environmental health, and food safety.
