Biography/Professional Experience

Dr. Kathryn Bach is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences. She teaches across Foundation Courses I, III, and VII, focusing on ruminant anatomy, physiology, and clinical skills, and serves on the curriculum design groups for Courses III and VII.

Her research centers on transition cow health and disease monitoring, with an emphasis on applied research to improve dairy cow management and well-being. Dr. Bach coordinates the Summer Dairy Institute, an advanced training program for veterinary students and early-career veterinarians pursuing careers in dairy production medicine.

She also serves on the College Awards Committee, advises the Cornell Student Chapter of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP), and is deeply engaged in student mentorship and professional development. In addition, she is actively involved with the national AABP and the Northeast Dairy Production Medicine Symposium, advancing mentorship, leadership development, and continuing education within the bovine veterinary community.

Dr. Bach’s mission is to inspire and equip future bovine practitioners and researchers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advance the health, welfare, and productivity of dairy cattle.
