Biography/Professional Experience

Dr. Eileen Hackett, professor of large animal surgery at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, is a veterinary surgeon-scientist with extensive surgical experience in equine and other large animal species. She has a strong interest in minimally invasive surgery and upper respiratory disease conditions and surgical treatments. 

A native of Illinois and graduate of the University of Illinois Veterinary School, Dr. Hackett completed an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY and surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. Following residency training, she joined the Colorado State University Department of Clinical Sciences where she worked over 19 years. Dr. Hackett joined Cornell University in 2021.
