Welcome to the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital

The Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital, an annex of the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, is a veterinary hospital dedicated solely to the treatment of ill or injured native wild animals. We provide expert medical and surgical care for over 1,000 patients annually, from locally and across the state of New York, with the goal of releasing them back to the wild. Our hospital staff has a passion for teaching, and is dedicated to training veterinary students, veterinary technician students and graduate veterinarians in wildlife medicine. Through innovative research projects, we contribute new information to the field of wildlife medicine that improves our ability to care for our patients as well as our understanding of wildlife health. The wildlife hospital operates within Cornell University, a registered nonprofit, and relies largely on public donations.
