About the Keynote Speaker
Ellen Carlin, DVM '07
Ellen P. Carlin is the founder of the animal and public health firm Parapet Science & Policy Consulting and vice president with Pathway Policy Group. She studies the epidemiology of emerging infections, particularly risk factors for zoonotic spillover, and supports the development of improved policies to address them. She served for over five years as biodefense staff with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security.
She is a lecturer in the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine Master of Professional Studies program, where she teaches about the federal government's role in animal health. Her book, Catastrophic Incentives: Why Our Approaches to Disasters Keep Falling Short, was published with co-author Jeff Schlegelmilch in 2023. She received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the College of Mount Saint Vincent and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Please arrive by 1:40 pm. Parking is in the Forest Home Garage. As you arrive at the front entrance of Bailey Hall, an usher will be at the door to direct you to the auditorium.

- The best place for parking for the White Coat Ceremony is at Forest Home Dr. Parking Garage. Parking is free on Saturdays.
- The best place for parking for those who will be watching from the College of Veterinary Medicine is in B-lot.
- Guests may also park in B-lot for the Reception following the ceremony.
Accessibility
- Please visit the Cornell University website to learn more about Accessible Parking Spaces.
- If you have a visitor who has accessibility needs, please drop them off in front of Bailey Hall prior to parking. There will be an usher outside helping people find the entrance.
- The ushers inside can assist them in finding seating.
- Accessible (Handicap) Parking: You may park in handicap accessible spots around Bailey Hall with a handicap tag.
- Please do not park in any designated license plate spots. You will be towed.
