We propose collaborating with the researchers on the BMGF-funded Human Granuloma and Tuberculosis Projects at K-RITH, Durban, to integrate the research tools and approaches that we have developed at Cornell University to probe the biology of progressive human infections. We have developed a range of approaches for the functional characterization of both host cells and bacteria that we propose transferring to the investigators in the BMGF-supported projects.
