Grant Number: D18ZO-103
Title: Northeast Regional Meta-Analysis of Lead Toxicosis Impacts on Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus)
Project Amount: $53,442
Project Period: July 2018 to June 2019

DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):

Despite dramatic population recovery, bald eagles continue to succumb to lead (Pb) toxicosis in substantial numbers that may be artificially suppressing populations. By conducting a meta-analysis using multiple data sources from the Northeast, we will have increased statistical power to identify if Pb impacts population growth. Our meta-analysis will be capable of identifying common patterns or other disagreements between results and their potential sources of bias. This information will be useful for state, provincial, and federal agencies to craft communication messages around Pb issues.
