Principal Investigator: Santiago Peralta

Department of Clinical Sciences
Sponsor: Animal Dental Specialists of Upstate New York
Title: Characterization of Serum Protein Patterns and Inflammatory Markers in Cats with Chronic Gingivostomatitis: A Case- Control Study of Electrophoresis, Immunoglobulin, and Cytokine Profiles
Project Amount: $9,490
Project Period: September 2025 to January 2026

DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):

The current understanding of the pathogenesis of FCGS includes evidence of a systemic component outside the oral cavity, including the presence of hyperglobulinemia and expression of pro-inflammatory serum cytokines. The goal of this study is to gain further information on the systemic manifestation of the disease to detect potential biomarker and targets for treatment.
