Developing a Complete 3D Anatomy Online Database
Principal Investigator: Bill Ryerson
DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):
This project will create a digital library of 3D anatomical specimens utilizing photogrammetric techniques. Photogrammetry involves taking a series of images from different angles and then using open-sourced software to render 3D models that may be accessed anywhere from an online repository. We propose to build a photogrammetric database of student dissections giving them snapshots at different points in their dissections and of rare specimens allowing for review long after the physical material has degraded. After the initial building of a photogrammetric anatomy library, models will be made available to courses beyond the Cornell community.
