DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):
Mastitis is the most common disease of dairy cattle, lowering milk quality and production. We will create a system to report on the bacteria causing mastitis, and antibiotic resistance in these bacteria, on farms, regions, and New York state. The reports and extension efforts will help veterinarians and farmers reduce mastitis and ensure effective antibiotic treatments now and in the future.
