Research/Clinical Interests

  • Developing and improving locoregional anesthetic techniques for all animal species, especially the dog and the horse.
  • Developing and applying anesthetic techniques for safe and cost-effective out- patient surgery.
  • Development of a Recovery Enhancing Device to assist horses during emergence from general anesthesia
  • Data analysis to optimize caseload and resource allocation

Biography/Professional Experience

Luis Campoy is a 1995 graduate from Zaragoza University, Spain (LV). After a year in small animal practice, he completed his internship in the aforementioned university. In 2001, he completed a three year residency in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at University College Dublin (Ireland) where he became a lecturer until 2005. In 2000, he obtained his Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (CertVA). He is also a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (DipECVAA) since 2004. He is currently an Clinical Professor at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where he has been since 2005. Luis Campoy has numerous publications in the field of locoregional anaesthesia and analgesia in various species, mainly small animals and horses.
