This is a hands-on workshop endorsed by the ACVAA (American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia) involving local and regional anesthetic techniques utilizing canine cadaver specimens. Through the use of small groups (2-3 delegates) and multiple stations, participants will have the opportunity to practice different regional anesthesia techniques of the head, and ultrasound - guided techniques of the thoracic and pelvic limbs, the abdomen, and the thoracic wall in a controlled setting.

Dr. Sam Hurcombe will discuss the causes and treatments for equine gastric ulcer syndromes in horses. We will review the different types of ulcer syndromes in horses with an emphasis on horse discipline and associated ulcer syndromes. We will discuss which therapies are proven to work and when to use them, as well as proper duration of each. We will also have a discussion about the use of compounded medications, their effectiveness, and if they are legal. Lastly, we will talk about feeding the ulcer horse and different preventative strategies for horses in various disciplines.
